Hey, y’all! My name is Ellie. I’m a wife, mama, teacher and writer from small-town Tennessee. My husband is Charlie, and together we have five kids and four dogs – a full house to say the least!
Before I became a teacher, I held positions in office management, accounting, sales and marketing and employment services. After I had my two boys, I decided to go back to school so that I could pursue the career I’ve felt called to nearly all my life, teaching.
As a single mama, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in English. Three years later, while teaching full-time, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching with a dual certification in Middle Education (grades 4-8) and Special Education (grades K-12).
For over six years, I worked in some of the most impoverished and gang-ridden communities in our state as an educator and mentor. Things like justice, equality and beating the odds get my heart beating double-time. I love people and believe that everyone should get a fair chance in life.
When I’m not spending time with my family or preparing lesson plans, I blog about things like parenting, justice, and current events at ellietalley.com.

I hope you leave this space feeling inspired about the important work that you are doing in education. Not many people have the grit and determination to enter the classroom every day and give so much to our future leaders like you do. Thank you for the life-changing work you’re doing and for the heart you have for children in this world!
